Mrs. Betty B. Green Smith was born September 19, 1902, to the late Rev. Ben Green and Mrs. Julia Beason Green in Anderson County, Texas.  Here she grew up and attended the public schools of the city. A t an early age she united with the Galilee Primitive Baptist Church and later the New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Betty was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Alex Smith, Sr., to them two children were born, a daughter preceded her in death.  She later moved to San Francisco, California, and became a member of the Jones United Memorial Methodist Church and remained a faithful member until her demise Friday, March 14, 1986, in San Francisco. She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Mr. Alex Smith, Jr.; two grandchildren, Mr. Robert Henderson, Jr., Union City, California, and Mrs. Winifred Wright, San Francisco, California; four sisters, Mrs. Bennie Starr, Mrs. Johnnie Wagner, Mrs. Myrtle Deckard, all of Palestine, Texas, and Mrs. Margie Clewis, Forth Worth, Texas; and one brother, Mr. Matthew Green, El Paso, Texas; several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
